4. A Bigger Splash (2015)
The movie showcases the lives of a filmmaker (Matthias Schoenaerts) and a famous rock star (Tilda Swinton) in Italy that gets disrupted due to an unexpected visit by an old friend
(Ralph Fiennes) and his daughter. Dakota Johnson played the role of this young daughter about whose existence the father has also come to know just some time ago.
“A Bigger Splash” focus on the high profile lives of a couple who are enjoying a leisure break from their work as the rock star has some problem with her vocal cord. The old friend happens to be her ex-lover who still finds his ex-girlfriend attractive and wants her back. The whole story is about jealousy, passion and in the end danger that is caused due to the coming of this father and daughter duo.
Performance Review
Johnson plays the role of a young daughter called Penelope who is flirtatious and acid-tipped at her best. Interestingly, she oozes as much sex appeal as her mother Melanie Griffith was known for and hence portrays the character with much ease on the screen.
Although there were not many reviews that appreciated Dakota Johnson’s performance, it was expected as the leading star cast had a much better and expansive role in the film.
