3. Closer (2004)
It is a sexy drama that offers loads of terrific performances from all the big stars including Clive Owen, Natalie Portman, Jude Law, and of course, Julia Roberts. The movie takes an intense look at the relationship involving lust and love. Both Owen and Portman were nominated for best supporting actor and actress for Oscar; however, Roberts still managed to shine in one of the least sympathetic roles of her career.
Performance Review
Julia plays the role of a matured Anna and brings in the most welcome warmth to the character which if played by least capable actress could have ended in a devastating result. The script evidently has a few shortcomings, but through sheer acting talent, Roberts manages to rise above the shortcomings in the script and makes the overall character of Anna impressive and intense on the screen.
